Character name: Flynn Scifo
Character series: Tales of Vesperia
Appearance: Flynn is a well built young man of 22, his training in the military arts making his broad shouldered and physically fit,. His blond hair is short and always messy, regardless of what he does to tame it, and his blue eye are very open and honest.
He has a preference for blues and lighter colored clothing, always practical and well worn.
History: Flynn was born in Arkhied to a solider in one of the higher nobles’ militias and his wife. But before Flynn was even old enough to remember the man he was killed in active duty, and without any other kind of support he and his mother ended up in the slums outside the city. Eventually, once Flynn was a little older, his mother passed away as well. Now all alone he became friends with another street urchin named Yuri Lowell, the two boys basically raised by the neighborhood as a whole.
When they became of age, the two joined up with the military, hoping to make things better for themselves and the people who raised them. Soon afterwards Yuri left, disgusted by the corruption he found there. But Flynn stayed, determined to change things from the inside.
Even without his friend’s support Flynn managed to move up the ranks quickly, though most of the other officers considered him an upstart at best, or an outright danger to their own positions at worst. As such he has a few loyal followers, but is for the most part an outsider amongst all the more well bred fighters he works along side.
Personality:If Flynn is anything he is dedicated. Ever since he was a child he’s devoted his life to one over reaching ideal, and stuck with it for over half of his life. He’s an idealist through and through, yet not a completely unrealistic one. At his heart he wants to make the world a better, safer place for everyone… but he knows that it’ll take work, that nothing will be easy and that he will be fought step by step along the way. But he is also stubborn as a mule, and no matter what is thrown in his path he will continue on it. True, this will occasionally blind him to some of the slippery aspects of political life, but that does not dissuade him.
It’s hard to describe Flynn without talking about Yuri. He’s both Yuri’s twin and inverse. They share the same ideals of equality and justice but are on very separate paths for how it must be done. Unlike Yuri, Flynn has a core of patience in him, and is willing to wait for his better future. Seeing people get hurt while he’s tangled up in the law hurts him, but he believes that playing judge and jury (and like Yuri, executioner) is simply the first step into a downward spiral. So instead of throwing himself into each tiny personal crime against the people, Flynn plays Politian. And is good at it.
But saying Flynn is nothing more then his goals (perhaps even ambitions, though he would hate to use such a term) is selling him short. He is a kind, loyal and earnest young man, and honest to a fault. He does anything for his friends and is a source of strength to those that fight alongside him. While he is very talented he has yet to fall to any hubris, and in fact tends to blame himself for any failings of the group as a whole. He’s a workaholic, and refuses to be any less then his best at all times. Though, he does have his blind spots: he can be considered a bit of a boy scout, and some may find him a bit preachy and demanding when he really gets going. In fact, he’s a bit of a mother-hen and will pester others “for their own good”, getting easily frustrated when he’s ignored or brushed aside. He could even be compared to a rather pushy, and occasionally easily scandalized, Aunt. His intentions are good… but he can get outright annoying.
He also has a love for battle, though not a bloodlust. Challenging himself and going beyond his limits invigorates him. And finding someone that can challenge him, that can force him to be better not only in battle but in other ways, is something he strives for. When he’s struggling against someone else his more snaky side shows up, and he can show a rather completive streak. Much like a certain mercenary Captain

Abilities: Flynn is a skilled swordsman above all else. But he also is a decent mage, focusing of healing magic and light based magic.
